Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District, in conjunction with North Carolina Department of Transportation, is now relocating water and sewer lines along Julian Allsbrook Highway from Virginia Avenue to East 10th Street. Construction began Monday, March 6th, and continues through the anticipated completion date of September 25th. Normal work hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Motorists should expect daily lane closures with the use of flagmen and side street detours, periods of full road closure and detours and broken and/or uneven pavement throughout the duration of the project. All efforts are being made to minimize disruption to area businesses; which are open for normal business. It is suggested motorists avoid travelling through Julian Allsbrook Highway and choose an alternate route, during this time. Motorists that must travel along this section of Julian Allsbrook Highway are asked to use caution, care and ensure a safe work zone for construction workers, pedestrians and the travelling public. Please report any issues with this construction work to us, (252) 537-9137, at your earliest convenience and thank you for your cooperation.
