WWTP Maintenance Employee
The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District is currently accepting applications for a position to assist in the preventive and corrective maintenance for an 8.34-MGD waste activated sludge Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Rebuilds and repairs a wide variety of equipment including: pumps, motors, switch gears, drive units, process systems units, vehicles, and other units. Operate equipment, machinery, and power tools associated with maintenance of the WWTP. Troubleshooting skills are essential and must possess these skills to be effective in this area without further skills training. Solid mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge are desired. Also performs other tasks as required. Requires high school diploma or accredited trade school graduate with good communications skills, 5-years progressive industrial maintenance experience in performing maintenance tasks on systems of comparable processes at the WWTP. Certificate of graduation from technical program related to electrical, welding, engine repair, millwright, machinist, or other related skills is a plus. Candidate must be experienced with computerized documentation. Experience with Grade IV wastewater facilities is preferred but not required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District will accept applications for the position of Distribution-Collection Department Laborer. Applicant must be a high school graduate or possess GED with prior experience or interest in water and sewer piping systems. Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn and practice water and sewer utility piping procedures and maintenance, main taps, power equipment operation, willingness and physical ability to perform manual labor; ability to understand and transmit simple oral and written instructions; trench safety; ability to keep equipment, tools and vehicles in good working condition; good physical condition; must maintain a telephone at place of residence; must obtain and wear, at own expense, an approved pair of steel-toed safety shoes.
